This product has finally ended my search for my go to tinted SPF moisturizer - something to wear simply on regular days and in summer, but also suited for the days I do full makeup. At 46 yrs old, I'm still plagued by my very oily skin, not without occasional dry patches, and always fighting breakouts (yes still), and now wrinkles and hyperpigmentation and general uneven tone, and large pores. Sounds nice huh? I've tried so many tinted/spf moisturizers over the years: Laura Mercier, Tarte, Elta MD, Neutrogena, Physicians Formula, Maybelline, Cerave...this list goes on, and this stuff takes the cake. My skin (finally) looks smooth, color corrected, NOT oily, not slimy, and feels firmer and moisturized when I put this on. I wear it alone for simple days but it works great under makeup too, and minimizes the amount of foundation I need to use. And the SPF is in there - what could be better?! My search is finally over - I've found the holy grail of tinted moisturizers.

***** 50+ years old and this is the best sunscreen I've ever used
I have always hated sunscreen. I had horrible acne into my 20s and was a freak about what I would put on my skin. Sunscreens were too thick, made me break out, looked white and chalky, I could go on. I have had about 10 skin cancer surgeries on my face and numerous freezings so going without sunscreen was no longer an option. The first time my facialist used this I was amazed. My skin looked almost poreless, my usually red blotchy face had a nice even color, it looked like I had nothing on but my skin looked great. I have now used this for 4 years and hope it never changes. Yes it comes out white/pale lavender but it so oddly turns into a light tint that looks lovely and does not look made up. No it is not a foundation and will not provide that kind of coverage but that is not what I wanted. I still have pores and I can't wear any liquid foundation as it just pools in my pores and looks horrible. This just looks natural and lovely. Please NEVER change this. I've looked my whole adult life for something this good.
**** Not For A Pale Face
Solar Defense is a nice product - lightweight and effective at preventing skin damage. But I have very pale skin, and the tint is too dark for me. It shows up a bit too bronze-y on me and you can see the line between it and my regular skin tone. Would be great if they made it in a lighter shade.

I love this product. I used it for 1 year every day. It adjusts to my skin color and tinted it a little, covers small imperfections. I have very sensitive skin. My cheeks and nose have visible vessels. It helps a little to hide my imperfections. My face looks more smooth. It's light. No oily shine. Nice and longlasting product.
***** It actually IS TINTED
I disagree with all the reviews saying this has no tint. It comes out of the bottle without tint, but adjusts to your skin color. It may not provide enough coverage for some, but it's perfect for evening out skin tone if you like more of a natural look. It is most definitely tinted! Be careful drying your hands after applying bc you will see the tint on your towels. It was this product specifically that got me hooked on the brand in general. I love how light it feels on my skin and how well it protects from the sun. On the days I feel I need extra coverage I mix a drop of liquid cover-up and voila. But, over time I've found I do that less often. Don't need it! Just LOVE THIS STUFF.

This works fine for sunscreen but there is no tint to it and not recommended if you want to use instead of foundation like other similar products.

The first time I ever saw my new esthetician, she gave me a HydroPeptide product facial and a few samples to leave with. I could not believe how amazing and even my skin looked when I left, especially in light of the solar defense. I had never used SPF daily (I know, I know) but this product is the reason that I wear it every day under my makeup, without makeup, or however. I have used it for over a year and a half now, religiously. I only wish the solar defense body was also made with titanium dioxide + zinc oxide so I could use that too!

My Favorite Daily Sunscreen
I love this - it provides good sun coverage and just the right amount of a glow! Not greasy at all but it does serve as my daily moisturizer.
